End 68 Hours of Hunger – Pembroke & Allenstown is a local chapter of the national End 68 Hours of Hunger program, dedicated to helping children in our community who may not have enough food at home over the weekend.
For many students, school meals provide an important source of reliable nutrition during the week. But from the time they leave school on Friday afternoon until they return Monday morning, there are approximately 68 hours when those meals are unavailable.
Our chapter works to help bridge that gap.
Each week during the school year, we provide participating students at Allenstown Community School, Pembroke Hill School and Pembroke Academy with a bag of easy-to-prepare food to take home for the weekend. Bags include meals, breakfast items, snacks, drinks, and other kid-friendly foods selected to help students get through the weekend and return to school ready to learn.
Our program is completely volunteer-run and supported through the generosity of local families, businesses, organizations, and community partners. Food donations, monetary contributions, food drives, and volunteer support all play an important role in keeping our pantry stocked and our bags filled each week.
As the need in our community continues to grow, so does our program. We are committed to making sure students and families can access this support with dignity, compassion, and as few barriers as possible.
Together, our community can help make those 68 hours a little easier — one weekend bag at a time.
